Was there ever a definitive solution to the Plum Island AI Traffic problem? I checked through the posts in the old forum http://forums.fsaddon.eu/viewt…..php?t=1136 and could not really find an answer that applied (or that I could understand!). I have a fresh install of FSX and Plum Island, no other scenery, and the AI still do not appear to ever move! Any help would be appreciated. Perhaps some exact times when the traffic is programmed to fly! Thanks ….

OfflineThanks Francois. I know it's a old product but I do like the scenery. The manual states "General aviation traffic density: almost any setting above 0%, the AI traffic at 2B2 is set to activate at 1% density, so even if you normally run with no AI, you might consider it for this airport." so I assume that the AI (there are usually six aircraft (fsx defaults) parked about the airfield) should move at some point in time!
Hooray! I've seen one one the AI aircraft move! The Piper Cherokee takes to the skies at 08:00 on a Sunday! However, I have noticed a few problems: 1) Sometimes the aircraft will taxi to the runway and just sit there! (especially when using runway 28), 2) When using 10 the aircraft does not use the full length of the runway and therefore does not takeoff until after it has plowed through the junk on the end of the tarmac just outside the fence, 3) When turning round at the end of the runway to use 28 the aircraft disappears into the trees, 4) The windsock is blowing in the wrong direction. Is suspect 1) – 3) are because the underlying 'AFCAD' file needs tweeking. Oh well, nothing's perfect!

OfflineI had to refresh my memory regarding the 2B2 traffic. Yes, there is indeed a traffic file specifically for the field, and yes, it indicates 6 planes that should take off and land at some point here each week. I can't recall why just now, but it seems the AI flight plans call for fairly sparse movements – each plane seems to only take off and/or land once or twice per week. Usually when I've done this before it's to ensure that there are plenty of planes on the ground for ambiance whenever you fly there.
As for the plane that isn't using the full runway, is it taxiing partway down the runway before starting its takeoff run? That might indicate an issue with the airport facilities file. Or am I misunderstanding the problem you've described?
thanks,
Bill
